Fairfax is a vast region with 1.2 million residents across Fairfax County, the City of Fairfax, and the City of Falls Church. Locals speak over 150 different languages in their homes and add to the culture, creativity, and character of our region. ArtsFairfax wants residents and visitors alike to explore the rich tapestry of art, music, folk traditions, and performing arts in Northern Virginia.

Make Art
Whether you’re a painter, poet, actor, dancer, or musician, ArtsFairfax wants to amplify your work and expand your audience. ArtsFairfax offers free professional development workshops to help artists, arts professionals, and nonprofit leaders grow their skills and network with a variety of arts stakeholders.
The nonprofit recently launched the Fairfax Regional Artist Survey, a three-minute questionnaire created by artists for artists, to identify what local artists need to live and work in Northern Virginia. With over 600 responses in just under three months, the Fairfax Regional Artist Survey reveals just how creative our community is. The survey is open through December 31, 2024, and will inform future ArtsFairfax programming, services, and resources.
Make Art Possible
ArtsFairfax raises funds as the only grant maker dedicated to local artists and arts organizations. By supporting more than 15,000 arts activities and programs, ArtsFairfax Grants make it possible for over one million arts participants to experience exciting performances, exhibitions, and cultural learning opportunities. The nonprofit awards around $800,000 in grants and student scholarships, but ArtsFairfax has set its sights on funding $1 per capita in support of our local arts sector.
“Arts are an expression of our shared communities and inspire us to better understand ourselves, gather with people who are different from us, and experience something together. With a region as diverse as ours, ArtsFairfax wants you to stay curious about the arts — and the people — around you,” says Stuart Holt, ArtsFairfax President & CEO.
Support for ArtsFairfax directly supports the hundreds of artists who call Fairfax home. For more information, visit ArtsFairfax.org.
