If you decide to visit the Corolla Outer Banks of North Carolina this spring or summer here are 10 activities to enjoy while vacationing.

1. Take Time to Relax

Corolla has some of the most beautiful, remote beaches on the East Coast. Take time for yourself to just enjoy the sound of the beach and the waves softly crashing on the shoreline.

2. Watch the Wild Horses Play

The Corolla wild horses have been roaming here for over 400 years. The wild horse tours are very popular and it’s the best way to see the wild horses. The tour guides are interesting and knowledgeable; and they will share the history of these legends, stories, and information about why it is so important to protect the wild horses. The experience is truly invaluable and memorable.

3. Play with Your Kids in the Surf

Time with our children is so important and making memories while on vacation is a must. No problem here, from building sandcastles to playing tag in the surf to playing with one of the many toys provided by most beach houses, you won’t have any problem making memories.

4. Find Historic Treasures

Historic Corolla Park in the heart of Corolla, is home to not only beautiful scenic views of the Currituck Sound, but also home to four major historic sites. You can take the 220 steps up the Currituck Beach Lighthouse and enjoy the most epic view in all of the Outer Banks. Also in the park is the 1920’s Whalehead Museum, Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education, and the Currituck Maritime Museum.

5. Take an Outdoor Adventure

From sound side kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding to ocean side activities, like surfing, there is an activity for all levels of outdoor adventure.

6. Shop Like a Local

Shopping for souvenirs and unique beach gear is a fun activity and Corolla is the perfect place to shop. With the many local shops in the area, picking up that perfect souvenir, beach gear, or shirt is sure to get you in that beach mood.

7. Eat the Seafood and Drink Some Local Brews

Check out all our local restaurants, breweries, an award-winning winery, and a brand-new distillery.

8. Explore the Natural Landscape

In Corolla, nature is abundant and you can see that either by touring the 2.5 miles of the Audubon Sanctuary at Pine Island or the 965 acres of beach, sand dunes, grasslands, and maritime forest at the Currituck Banks National Estuarine Reserve.

9. Watch a Sunrise

Get up early to see at least one sunrise coming up over the ocean. You won’t regret it.

10. Watch a Sunset

Located on a barrier island, Corolla is the perfect place to watch a sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean and a sunset over the Currituck Sound … both experiences are priceless.

Plan your Corolla Outer Banks vacation now for your spring or summer getaway.
