The DMV is abuzz with America250 programming. From expansive museum exhibits to a one-of-a-kind IndyCar race along the National Mall, there’s plenty to look forward to.
And now Amtrak is joining the celebration with its new Freedom 250 NextGen Acela train. On Thursday, the red, white, and blue wrapped train made its debut at DC’s Union Station.
Along with the star-spangled design, the train includes an image of the Statue of Liberty along with the phrase “1776 National Champs” and images of the Declaration of Independence. It also includes the names of President Donald Trump and Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.
Amtrak says it took 150 man hours to wrap the train in the Freedom 250 design.

On its inaugural ride, the train transported Duffy along with around 25 fourth and fifth graders to Philadelphia. The students then visited iconic landmarks to learn about the beginning of the country’s independence.
Over the next few months, Amtrak plans to extend its celebration by adding America250, Freedom250, and DOT250 decals on 20 additional trains throughout the country.
