Realtor.com has named Warrenton as one of the 50 hottest zip codes in the country. The Fauquier County town landed at No. 38 on the annual list.
According to Realtor.com, the list spotlights zip codes where “buyer interest is strongest and homes are flying off the market.” It’s determined by market demand, as measured by viewers per property on Realtor.com, as well as the number of days a home stays on the market.
“The hottest areas are those that have high demand from buyers, in other words, lots of unique viewers per each property listed for sale, and fast-selling homes, an indicator of limited supply,” Realtor.com said.
Warrenton — part of our 2024 list of the Great Places to Live in Northern Virginia — had 2.1 percent more views per listing than the national average. Homes spent a median of 25 days on the market, and the median home price was $880,000. This data was from January to June 2025.
Beverly, Massachusetts, was No. 1 on the list, followed by Marlton, New Jersey, and Leominster, Massachusetts. Other top 10 locations are:
4. Ballwin, Missouri
5. Wayne, New Jersey
6. Strongsville, Ohio
7. Trumbull, Connecticut
8. Cumberland, Rhode Island
9. South Windsor, Connecticut
10. Bexley, Ohio
Only one zip code per metropolitan area was allowed on the top list, so Warrenton was the only DMV-area town represented. Nearby in the Baltimore metro area, Forest Hill, Maryland, was No. 35.
Overall, Realtor.com said this list showed that many buyers are looking for lower housing costs by shopping in suburban areas. These spots offer “a compelling mix of lifestyle appeal and cost savings when compared to city-center prices.”
It also noted that many top markets are seeing tight inventory, with listings nearly 59 percent below pre-pandemic norms. NoVA homebuyers are seeing the opposite; Northern Virginia area inventory was up 52.7 percent year over year in June.
