Arlington County Police Department said Sunday that it is conducting additional patrols near the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City. On Saturday, the mall had to be evacuated and was closed due to multiple fights. Police arrested three teenage suspects.
At around 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, police responded to reports of multiple fights at the food court of Pentagon City. “As additional officers began responding to the food court, the crowd remained disorderly and fights continued to occur, creating a danger to patrons and the officers on scene,” ACPD said in a news release.
The police asked that the mall be closed and patrons evacuated.
One suspect, a 13-year-old girl, “ignored officers’ commands, pushed an officer and resisted attempts to detain her,” according to police. She was charged with riot and assault on police.
Police say a second suspect, a 15-year-old girl, assaulted a store employee, an officer, and a Pentagon City security personnel. She was charged with assault on police, two counts of assault and battery, injury to a person in a riot, and obstruction of justice.
A 14-year-old boy assaulted an officer and resisted arrest, and a knife was recovered when he was taken into custody. He was charged with assault on police, riot while carrying a weapon, and trespassing.
Responding officers, mall security personnel, and a store employee reported minor injuries. The two female suspects were treated for minor injuries.
The mall reopened as scheduled on Sunday.
