A 16-year-old boy has been arrested for stabbing an officer in Fair Lakes on Monday after placing a false 911 call, police said in a news release. He has been charged with malicious wounding.

At 2:38 p.m. on February 3, two officers arrived at the 12800 block of Fair Lakes Parkway. The were responding to a call from someone who claimed to have killed two people. While officers were investigating the incident, a 16-year-old male ran toward them with a knife. Bodycam footage of the incident shows the struggle between the suspect and the police officer.

The suspect stabbed the officer in the upper body before being taken into custody. The officer was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has been released.

The second officer on the scene can be seen holding his firearm. The officer did not discharge his gun or use a taser, Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis said at a press conference.

Police later determined that the suspect was the dispatch caller. His claims that he killed two people were false.

Police are not disclosing the suspect’s identity. However, “the police department has had interactions with him in the past,” according to Major Elizabeth Melendez with the Major Crimes Bureau.
