After 16 days of competition the 2024 Summer Olympics have come to an end. At the close of the games, Team USA came away with 126 total medals – a handful of which were won by our very own Northern Virginia athletes. Here are the 8 NoVA Olympians that won hardware in Paris.
Emily Fox
Women’s Soccer
During her Olympic debut, the Ashburn native saw action in every single match during Team USA’s road to its fifth gold medal.
Torri Huske
Swimming
The Arlington native took home the most medals of any Team USA athlete this Olympics. Huske is heading home with three gold medals in the women’s 100m butterfly, the women’s 4x100m medley relay, and the mixed 4x100m medley relay. She also earned two silver medals in the women’s 100m freestyle and the 4x100m freestyle relay.
Taylor Knibb
Triathalon
After competing in both the triathlon and road cycling events, Knibb took home her second silver medal during the mixed relay triathlon. The DC native served as the anchor leg in the race that ended in a photo finish.
Casey Krueger
Women’s Soccer
The veteran defender added to her Olympic bronze medal with a gold during the 2024 international competition, the team’s first since the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Noah Lyles
Track & Field
The Alexandria sprinter claimed his first Olympic gold medal and claimed the title of “the fastest man in the world” after winning the men’s 100m race by five-thousandths of a second. Lyles also claimed the bronze medal in the men’s 200m final despite having COVID-19.
Trinity Rodman
Women’s Soccer
If you didn’t know who Rodman was before, you definitely do now. The Washington Spirit forward scored a crucial extra time goal versus Japan in the quarterfinal to move the USWNT to the next round. The forward ended the tournament with three goals and one assist.
Christian Tabash
Rowing
Another Alexandria native is heading home with some hardware. During his Olympic debut, Tabash and his Men’s Eight team won the bronze medal, coming in behind Great Britain and the Netherlands.
Croix Bethune
Women’s Soccer
The Washington Spirit midfielder made her Olympic debut after an injury to Jaedyn Shaw moved her from alternate to the main roster. Bethune played significant time during the group stages, earning the midfielder her first gold medal.
