Amazon Fresh plans to open its new grocery store in Potomac Yard on Thursday, July 25.
The 50,000-square-foot grocery store at 3801 Richmond Hwy. takes over what used to be a Shoppers Food Warehouse in the popular West End shopping center.
The store will offer delivery and pickup. You will be able to use Amazon Dash Cart to avoid the checkout line by using your in-app store code.
Amazon Fresh also has locations in Franconia, Fairfax, Lorton, and Manassas, but closed its Crystal City store earlier this year. The new location will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
Fresh Market Plans 2 New Stores
In other grocery store news, Greensboro, North Carolina-based Fresh Market, which has stores in Alexandria’s Bradlee Shopping Center and Vienna’s Danor Plaza, plans to open two new stores in NoVA.
One store will be in Reston Station and the other in Falls Church. Both are expected to open within the next three years, according to a news release.

The 27,000-square-foot Reston store will be on the ground floor of a building at the corner of Wiehle Avenue and Sunset Hill Road.
“We are excited to announce The Fresh Market, a specialty food retailer, as the anchor of Midline at Reston Station,” said Tim Steffan, chief operating officer of Comstock.
“The Fresh Market is a great complement to the ever-growing neighborhood, which includes the 55,000-square-foot flagship VIDA Fitness and Spa facility, the golf-themed entertainment and dining venue Puttshack, Ebbitt House — the first-ever expansion of the iconic Old Ebbitt Grill brand — Tous les Jours Bakery, and Sushi Roku, steakhouse and sushi bar.”

The Falls Church store will be slightly larger at 29,000 square feet. It will be an anchor store in the West Falls mixed-use development at the corner of Leesburg Pike and Haycock Road.
