You can now go to your favorite Alexandria food truck later in the evening. Alexandria City Council approved extended hours for food truck businesses.
Food trucks, which previously had to shut down by 8 p.m., will now be allowed to stay open until midnight.
Staffers recommended a change to 11 p.m., but on Saturday the council added an hour. The trucks can continue to start operations at 7 a.m.
The change came about because food truck vendors said they missed out on business from people working later hours.
The city also has three designated on-street locations:
- The 800 block of North West Street, north of Madison Street, near the Braddock Road Metro;
- The 1700 block of King Street adjacent to King Street Gardens;
- The 2200 block of Eisenhower Avenue, near Mill Road.
The trucks also are allowed to operate on private property with permission of the owner, at a farmers market with permission, and on public property with some restrictions.
