Flags in Virginia are being flown at half-staff Monday in memory of Trevor Brown, the firefighter who died in a house explosion February 16. Brown’s funeral is being held in Leesburg on Monday, and thousands are expected to attend.

Brown, 45, volunteered with the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company. He was inside the home on Silver Ridge Drive on February 16 when the fire department was investigating the smell of gas and the explosion occurred.

Brown’s funeral is set for 11 a.m. at the Cornerstone Chapel at 650 Battlefield Pkwy. in Leesburg and will be livestreamed. Gov. Glenn Youngkin is set to speak at the service, NBC4 Washington reports.

More than 3,000 people are expected to attend the funeral, with many coming in fire vehicles. Shuttle buses are taking people to the funeral from Segra Field.

Traffic is expected to be disrupted in Leesburg through 3 p.m.
