Report: Tentative Deal in Place to Sell Washington Commanders for $6B

The deal isn’t final and hasn’t been submitted to the NFL yet.

There’s a tentative agreement in place for Dan and Tanya Snyder to sell the Washington Commanders, according to media reports Thursday.

The Washington Post said businessman Josh Harris’ investment group — which includes fellow businessman Mitchell Rales and NBA legend Magic Johnson — has reached a preliminary deal to buy the Commanders for roughly $6 billion.

The Post’s information comes from “two people with direct knowledge of the sale process.”

The deal is not final and hasn’t been submitted to the NFL yet, according to the Post. The sale would need to be ratified by team owners.

Harris currently owns the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers and the NHL’s New Jersey Devils.

He and Rales are no strangers to the DC area.

Harris was born in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and went to The Field School in DC.

Rales grew up in Bethesda and graduated from Walt Whitman High School.
