Hurricane Dorian could be leading more evacuation traffic into Virginia, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation, so the state has decided to cancel some planned lane closures to account for increased congestion. The changes are mostly in the Fredericksburg area (I-95 and Routes 1, 2 and 17), as well as Richmond and Hampton Roads areas. (WTOP)
The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department Urban Search and Rescue team (FCFRD USAR) are sending members to the hurricane-ravaged islands of The Bahamas to aid in rescue and relief efforts. The FCFRD USAR team consists of 57 people and four canines, and will be coordinating with the Bahamian government. (WUSA9)
