Tropical Storm Watches in effect; Loudoun to host Little League parade

Northern Virginia’s daily dose of local and national news for Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Tropical Storm Watches have been issued for parts of Virginia as Hurricane Dorian makes its way up the Eastern seaboard on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The areas to watch include north of the North Carolina/Virginia border to Chincoteague, and the Chesapeake Bay from Smith Point southward. Hurricane Dorian has dropped to a Category 2 with 105 mph max winds as of Wednesday morning. (WUSA9)

Loudoun County is planning to host a celebratory parade for the Loudoun South Little League team that qualified for and competed in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania this year. A majority of the details have not yet been released, but the parade is set to take place in South Riding on Sept. 14. (WTOP)

Virginia-based nonprofit Project Hope is sending a team of medical professionals to The Bahamas following Hurricane Dorian’s destruction earlier this week. The team will fly to Nassau on the island of New Providence, but are planning to make their way to the hardest-hit areas and coordinate efforts with the Bahamian government. (WTOP)

The new 6,000-square-foot German pub-themed restaurant and bar, Bronson Bierhall, is set to open this week in Ballston at 4100 Fairfax Drive. Doors will open on Friday, Sept. 6, with a menu that focuses on German-American food, such as giant Munich pretzels, pierogies and schnitzel. The location will be open for lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. (WTOP)
