Metro Transit Police have opened an investigation after a Saturday-night report (and captured video) displayed an officer deploying his stun gun on an unarmed man. The encounter took place after the Metro Transit police responded to a call about juveniles allegedly threatening people with sticks on the U Street Metro platform in DC. (WTOP)

Set for July 10, Arlington will host the first of several public meetings about the permanent developments for Amazon’s HQ2. According to the plan’s summary, the meeting will “kick off the review process,” for the first areas of construction by the company, and Arlington County staff will be available to answer questions from the public. Manassas resident and graduate of Virginia Tech, Justin Robinson, will begin his professional basketball career with the Washington Wizards in the upcoming summer league. In the NBA Draft held on June 20, Robinson was not chosen in the two-round, 60-player event but was given an offer soon afterward. (Inside NoVA)

The publisher of the Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland, where a gunman killed five people in a 2018 shooting, is pushing for a national monument in Washington, D.C. to honor fallen journalists. Bipartisan legislation supporting the memorial is to be introduced this week. (WTOP)
