Virginia primary results across NoVA; Amazon gives $3 million to Arlington housing

Northern Virginia’s daily dose of local and national news for Wednesday, June 12.

The results are in—Virginians voted statewide for both Republican and Democratic primaries on Tuesday. Jeff McKay won the Democratic primary for Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chair with 42% of the total vote, and other election results are still being confirmed with 100% of precincts reporting. Amazon has arguably started to make quite the impact on local real estate already, but with hopes of maintaining affordable, local-income housing, the company donated $3 million to the Arlington Community Foundation. (WTOP)

Rosslyn Metro station’s interior mall will see future development into a food hall as part of a $35 million renovation, confirmed by American Real Estate Partners, the owner of Rosslyn Metro Center. The changes include the food hall, revamping common areas and an updated name: Rosslyn City Center. (Washington Business Journal)

The salad chain sweetgreen (founded in DC, now headquartered in Los Angeles), has acquired DC-based Galley Foods, a company known for delivering fully cooked, chef-curated meals in biodegradable containers. (WTOP)
