In attempts to avoid the spread of the creepy crawly spotted lanternfly, the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has put a quarantine in place so the invasive species does not threaten more than 70 different plant variations across the state. Virginia and Transurban, a private builder and operator of toll lanes across the state, held a groundbreaking on Wednesday, June 5, for the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg extension project. Gov. Ralph Northam announced Tuesday that $11 million in loans will be spent towards 17 affordable and special needs housing in the state. Girl Scout Troop 60013 in Arlington hosted “TechBridge,” a cell phone clinic for seniors to ask questions and get help from the scouts on everything from texting and email, to accessibility adjustments and changing settings. The girls spent months planning different topics and getting experience coaching others. They are hoping to earn a Silver Award from Girls Scouts of the USA. (CNN)
