NoVA snowstorm costs over $1 million per hour; Alexandria manager proposes no-tax-hike budget

The initial response to Wednesday’s snowstorm is costing the Virginia Department of Transportation $1 million an hour in Northern Virginia alone, with over 3,000 pieces of equipment needed for servicing public roads. (WTOP)

Snow and sleet are moving through Northern Virginia, and a winter storm warning is in effect until 7 p.m. Wednesday. According to the National Weather Service, a total of 3-6 inches of snow is expected. (InsideNoVA)

Under a fiscal 2020 budget plan proposed on Tuesday by Alexandria City Manager Mark B. Jinks, taxpayers would not see a higher tax rate or major service reductions and city schools would be fully funded. (The Washington Post)

Loudoun County Supervisors unanimously approved plans to build a larger Sterling fire and rescue building, which will replace the current 8,772-square-foot structure. The project will expand the building’s size to 23,700 square feet. (Loudoun Now)
