Virginia and Transurban announced Tuesday their plans for four road projects in Northern Virginia, created to ease congestion in the region. The plans include a 2.5-mile extension of the 495 Express Lane north to the American Legion Bridge; the addition of a reversible ramp connecting the existing 95 Express Lane at Opitz Boulevard; and a southbound Occoquan auxiliary lane in Woodbridge that will connect the southbound Route 123 ramp to I-95. (WTOP)

Virginia House GOP leaders have put together a plan for establishing an independent redistricting commission aiming to change the process of drawing legislative boundaries. The plan would call for an amendment to the state constitution to set up a 12-member commission who would then prepare new district maps. (Fredericksburg.com)

Loudoun County’s Board of Supervisors is developing a plan for the county’s first linear parks and trails system. Called the Emerald Ribbons system, the project is in response to supervisors and constituents raising concerns about the lack of public parks in the county. (Loudoun Times-Mirror)
