Crystal City has added another new resident, as it was announced last week that March of Dimes will be moving its headquarters from White Plains, New York, to the Arlington neighborhood.

March of Dimes is an 80-year-old, nationally recognized research and advocacy nonprofit organization that works to improve the lives of mothers and babies, helping to prevent birth defects, premature births and infant mortality.

“Arlington welcomes the March of Dimes to our community,” said Arlington County Board Chair Katie Cristol in a press release. “This organization’s work and legacy is inspiring, and we are honored that the strength of our community, as well as our proximity to the nation’s capital, led to the March of Dimes to choose Arlington for its new home. We look forward to a long-term and mutually beneficial relationship.”

As part of the deal, Arlington County will provide a $150,000 Economic Development Incentive grant, which will be subject to job creation and occupancy targets. It is expected that March of Dimes’ move to Crystal City will generate net taxes of $1.1 million for the county over the next decade.

Of course, March of Dimes is just the latest business to announce a move to Crystal City, following the November announcement of Amazon’s HQ2 coming to the area. Over the last two years, the March of Dimes has been looking to strengthen its partnerships with corporate and nonprofit leaders, according to the press release.

March of Dimes will take up residence in a 28,000-square-foot office at 1550 Crystal Drive.
