Over the last few years, it seems like almost every home that hits the market in Northern Virginia has been sold before the blink of an eye — but that’s not always the case. Of the 2,300 active homes on the market in NoVA through the end of November, 22.5 percent of those listings had been active for 100 days or longer, according to Bright MLS. Take a look through some of the active house listings throughout the region that have been for sale for nearly two years or more.

This historic estate has been around as long as the United States of America. Built in 1776, the 247-year-old estate is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register. Unlike many of the historic homes found across the region, this one is massive. The Georgian-style estate features 22 bedrooms, 16 bathrooms (13 full and three half-baths), and nearly 26,000 square feet on over 1,400 acres — so maybe it’s not ideal for your average NoVA family. The current listing price is $26.7 million.

An Arlington condo for under $100,000 seems like a steal. There are a few possible reasons this property has been on the market for nearly three years. First off, this one-bedroom, one-bath condo is a part of a 55-plus community. Secondly, it’s only 634 square feet. Finally, the monthly fees – $3,519 for amenities and a $240 condo fee – are higher than the average monthly rent in Arlington, according to Apartments.com.
