You only have a few days left to eat at Ford’s Fish Shack in South Riding before it closes on Tuesday, July 25.
The restaurant that specializes in fresh seafood dishes and raw oysters has been a staple in the South Riding Market Square for more than 10 years.
The owners, Tony Stafford and Ana Aviles, posted a message on the restaurant’s Facebook page about the closing.
They plan to build a new restaurant a couple miles down the road in Chantilly’s East Gate Marketplace. The new location at 25411 Eastern Marketplace Plz., Ste. 100, is expected to open in early 2024, they said.
“This is a very tough announcement to make and we first want to thank all of our loyal guests, friends, family, and especially our employees (both past and current) for the past 10 1/2 years. We had no idea we would become so attached to a community that has not only made us a popular nightly dining destination but a true member of the South Riding and Route 50 community,” the couple wrote.
They said the restaurant’s new building “will be very cool and it will represent truly how a small business can grow from a tenant in a shopping center with an idea to a business that owns its own land, building and can now say we have no plans of ever leaving this community.”
Employees in South Riding have been given the opportunity to work at Ford’s Fish Shack Ashburn or at Ford’s Fish Shack Lansdowne until the new location opens.
