A small kitchen fire temporarily closes WK Hearth and inspires menu changes

Renovations can bring some downtime to a restaurant. WK Hearth is using this time wisely.

Sometimes renovations are the result of many calculated years and plans; other times they are the result of an unforeseen circumstance. The latter is the case for WK Hearth in Purcellville. A small fire made construction updates necessary but also brought unplanned changes.

When the restaurant reopens, expected around August, WK Hearth will launch a new lunch and brunch menu. The majority of items will be build-your-own, according to owner Jason Miller, with options for burgers, Benedicts, omelets and bloody marys.

“We just figured we have all this downtime, we should do something with it,” says Miller of the new menu.

Besides the mandatory repairs to the kitchen, the upper level of the dining space will get a face-lift with updated lighting and new seating options. The restaurant will also showcase live jazz on Friday nights.
