A NoVA winery has just debuted the latest experience that’s going to take over your Instagram feed this winter. This month, Leesburg’s Stone Tower Winery announced a new ski gondola flight tasting. That’s right, you can now enjoy a tasting flight from inside a replica ski gondola.
Stone Tower Winery’s terrace has added a “winter ‘après-ski’ vibe” with its three gondolas, which can be reserved for groups of two, says Sarah Culbert, director of hospitality, who described the gondolas as “a dream for the era of Instagram photo ops.”
While the winery unveiled the ski gondolas on Instagram last week, they were already a hit with regulars prior to the post. “They (owners Mike and Kristi Huber) are constantly thinking of ways to enhance the guest experience and do not take for granted how special it is for guests to choose to spend their day with us,” says Culbert.
The idea came about when owner Kristi Huber was out on a shopping trip at HomeGoods when she came across the gondolas. “Instantly she knew they would be perfect for the ‘après ski’ vibe we were trying to obtain,” says Culbert. “She called around to other stores until we tracked down the three now hosted on our terrace.”
The booking reserves one of the three gondolas for two hours. A tasting in the gondola comes with a flight of three wines, the winery’s signature butter board, and housemade ciabatta. The flight tasting is $30 per person and all guests must be 21 and over to enjoy. Guests can also order additional dishes to accompany their drinks, and other glasses and bottles of wine once they have finished their flight.
Although the gondolas are enclosed and do provide some coverage from the elements, they are not heated, so make sure to dress for the weather.
The gondolas will only be available to reserve until March, so book your tasting and grab your camera for a picture-perfect experience.
