As the weather turns a little warmer, you may want a shandy to quench your thirst. For the uninitiated, that’s beer with a splash of lemonade. We’ve rounded up a few places in NoVA where you can find one.
2 Silos Brewing Co.
The Blood Orange Shandy Kolsch will keep you refreshed as you hang out at 2 Silos and Farm Brew Live this summer. Available in a pint, 32-ounce growler/crowler, and 64-ounce growler, you’ll be sure to tame your shandy cravings. Plus, the beer-tenders will throw in some extra blood oranges to create an extra-citrusy treat. 9925 Discovery Blvd., Manassas
Honor Brewing Company
Honor Brewing Company is for the folks who are serious beer lovers. It has more beer slang on its menu than it would take to impress even the snobbiest aficionado. The shandy getting rave reviews is the Easy Mango Shandy brewed with Pilsner, wheat malts, and tart and sweet cherries. 14004 Willard Rd., Ste. A, Chantilly.
Hops N Shine
You have two shandy options when you grab drinks at this Alexandria brewery. The featured Summer Shandy is the traditional option. The traditional wheat beer is mixed with lemonade to create the perfect summer drink. For a twist, try the Schöfferhofer Grapefruit Shandy, which combines Hefeweizen beer and grapefruit juice. 3410 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria
Old Bust Head Brewing Company
Head over to this Fauquier County brewery for a variety of shandies. Try the Blood Orange Sour Ale, the Blackberry Cobbler Imperial Sour Ale, and the Key Lime Pie Sour Ale in a can. 7134 Farm Station Rd., Vint Hill
Winchester Brew Works
If you’ve tried a traditional shandy, take it up a level and order the #glamping Pink Lemonade Shandy. This drink is a mix of blonde ale and house made lemonade with cranberry and hibiscus flowers, giving it a pink hue, which is sure to be a hit on your Instagram feed. The canned #LoveIsLove Grapefruit Shandy is also on the menu. 320 N. Cameron St., Winchester
