With the start of fall comes sweaters, pumpkin spice and hearty dinner stews. It also means we can switch out those fruity summer cocktails for warm, spiced drinks. Here are four comforting cocktails from around the region to try this season.

Amaro & Coco at Founding Farmers

This spiked cocoa is the perfect drink to warm you up on those cold autumn nights. This drink is made with amaro from Founding Spirits, the restaurant’s farmer-owned distillery in Washington, DC; hot chocolate; Fernet whipped cream; and a peppermint stick for an added festive touch. This is just one of the new seasonal cocktails being added to the menu this season. // 1904 Reston Metro Plaza Drive, Reston

Mulled Wine at Baba

Enjoy all of your favorite holiday spices with Baba’s Mulled Wine. This gin, cabernet and port wine combo is mixed with orange, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove for a delicious cocktail that is sure to put you in the holiday spirit. // 2901 Wilson Blvd., Arlington; $10

Nutty Irishman at West End Wine Bar & Pub

If you are a coffee person, try the hot Nutty Irishman this season. This cocktail combines Jameson Whiskey, Bailey’s Irish Cream, Frangelico hazelnut liqueur and coffee for a spin on your usual morning drink. // 36855 W. Main St., Purcellville; $12

Spanky’s Hot Toddy at Spanky’s Shenanigans

Hot toddies are an essential drink during the holiday season. So, this season, make your way to Spanky’s Shenanigans for their take on the classic cocktail. With options for either house whiskey or hot tea, this drink is the perfect choice for fall. // 538 E. Market St., Leesburg; $5
