Herndon’s The Lobster Fuses Thai and Seafood to Create Mouthwatering Dishes

Herndon’s newest fusion restaurant is serving up Thai street food, seafood classics, and plenty of culinary twists.

The newly opened The Lobster in Herndon is worth a visit for creative Thai street food and seafood with a twist. Diners are welcomed by accommodating staff, who helpfully explain the extensive menu. Surprise: A basket of crispy french fries arrives as a complimentary hors d’oeuvre while you peruse the menu.

Food is the main attraction here — don’t expect fancy surroundings, but rather flavorful fusion dishes that are a nod to Thai cuisine, with their own spin. The appetizer list is long, with staples like chicken satay and tom yum soup, but choose the papaya salad Thai-style for a mouthwatering treat. The traditional spicy shredded green papaya salad, enhanced with two large shrimp, offers great crunch and balanced heat.

There are plenty of entree options, including a create-your-own-bucket with a choice of assorted seafood. This finger lickin’ dish offers four sauce options, varying degrees of heat, and starch or vegetable sides.

Don’t overlook the enticing tom yum lobster. It’s beautifully presented, with a silky blend of ginger-like galangal, lemongrass, tomatoes, and earthy mushrooms, and it’s just $20. Note to self: any leftover rich broth makes an outstanding soup for lunch the next day.

Check out The Lobster for dine-in or takeout. With so many compelling, satisfying and affordable options you’ll be sure to return. 1106 Herndon Pkwy., Herndon
