Sweetgreen’s McLean Location Is Adding a Drive-Thru Pick-Up Window

Customers can soon pick up online orders in the “sweetlane.”

Sweetgreen lovers will soon have a new way to grab their salads and bowls. The McLean location has filed permits to add a “sweetlane” pick-up window, Washington Business Journal reported.

The fast-casual restaurant added its first drive-thru in November 2025 at a California location. The McLean location will be the first in the greater DC area to get a drive-thru.

“To use Sweetgreen’s ‘sweetlane,’ customers can place orders in advance through the Sweetgreen app or website and pick them up directly through the drive-thru, where dedicated team members ensure each order is fresh and ready for quick handoff,” the company said in a press release.

“We launched sweetlane to meet our digital customers where they are: busy, mobile, and looking for better access to real food,” said Chris Tarrant, Chief Development Officer at Sweetgreen.

Sweetgreen was founded in 2007 by three Georgetown University alumni. It’s known for its customizable salads and warm bowls of seasonal greens, roasted vegetables, and protein-rich toppings.

The brand relocated its headquarters from DC to California in 2016. It now operates more than 800 locations nationally, including 12 in DC, seven in Maryland, and 14 in Virginia. The McLean location opened at 6220 Old Dominion Dr. last December.
