The restaurant scene in DC just gained a little more star power. Wilmer Valderrama, best known for his roles on the sitcom That ’70s Show and the CBS drama NCIS, has co-founded a new Latin cocktail bar, Elegancia.
Elegancia is located in DC’s Union Market inside La Cosecha. Valderrama founded the venture with Daniella Senior, CEO of the Cuban coffee café chain Colada Shop.
The menu features Latin-inspired bites. It includes a Wilmer’s Trio with panela warm mixed nuts, ají amarillo smoked marinated olives, and citrus plantain chips. Other offerings include tequeños with smoked trout roe, avocado crema, chives; Afro-Caribbean empanadas; and smoked eggplant tamal.
The cocktail menu is also infused with Latin flair. It features a mango martini with vodka, fino sherry, and housemade mango cordial, and a cachapa highball mezcal with pisco, licor de elote, and heirloom corn foam. Zero-proof options include a tango and tonic made with lime, lemongrass, and basil. The bar also serves Latin beer brands and wine varietals from Spain and Argentina.
Elegancia is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to midnight, and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
