As August approaches, a fresh wave of enticing new restaurants is making its mark on the Northern Virginia dining scene. You’ll find everything from vibrant Mexican eateries to mouthwatering sushi spots, so now’s the perfect time to add these destinations to your must-try list. 

Alexandria 

Milk & Honey 

Known for its Southern-inspired brunches and zesty flavors, Milk & Honey brings its newest outpost to Old Town Alexandria. Expect shrimp and grits, crab hash and stacked pancakes in a comfortable setting. Whether you’re brunching with friends or craving soulful vibes, this spot delivers. 801 King St., Alexandria 

Ashburn 

Yoder’s Dutch Delights 

Yoder’s is a taste of Pennsylvania Dutch country in the heart of Ashburn. This indulgent Amish bakery and market is a hidden gem for fans of handmade sweets and hearty comfort food. Shah’s Halal Food  

Shah’s Halal Food opened a new location in Ashburn mid-July. The fast-casual spot is known for its flavorful rice platters, gyros, and fresh pita sandwiches. With generous portions and zesty Middle Eastern flavors, it’s a welcome addition to the local dining scene.  43330 Junction Plz., Ashburn 

Casa Tequila

Maker’s Union Pub 

The fourth location of this cozy neighborhood dining spot opened in July at Goose Creek Village in Ashburn. Side Chick by Ellie Bird 

The owners of Side Chick say it is where classic fried chicken meets bold Asian American flair. The new fried chicken concept began serving up bold flavors this month as an offshoot of Ellie Bird. The ghost kitchen specializes in crispy fried chicken, savory sides like miso mac ’n’ cheese and Filipino-style bibingka. 450 W. Broad St., Falls Church

Leesburg 

The Diana Lounge

With a stylish interior and elevated Mediterranean-American menu, The Diana Lounge could be a new date-night favorite. The intimate new restaurant honors the Roman goddess of the hunt with handcrafted beverages, bold bites and a setting rooted in community and connection. Doors open August 1, making it one of the most anticipated openings this summer. 208 S King St., Leesburg 

Aurora Seafood & Grill Buffet 

Buffet lovers rejoice — Aurora offers an all-you-can-eat experience focused on fresh seafood and global grilled delights. With everything on the buffet from crab legs and sushi to steak and stir-fry, there’s something for every appetite. Reston 

Shake Shack 

The beloved burger chain is now part of Reston Town Center’s dining landscape, offering its signature ShackBurgers, crinkle-cut fries and nine flavors of hand-spun shakes. Costa Verde 

Costa Verde introduces Sterling to the vibrant, coastal flavors of Peruvian cuisine. From lomo saltado to fresh ceviche, the menu highlights bold spices and traditional cooking with modern flair. Ms. Peach’s Southern Kitchen

And just like that, another Paris Baguette is open. This time, Sterling’s Cascades Marketplace is the new home. The resurrected dining destination includes other new restaurants like Taco Bamba, CHIKO and Brasserie Royale as well.
