New Korean Street Food Restaurant Open in Annandale

Oiso is in a soft opening phase now, serving up kimbap, donkatsu, and more.

A new restaurant is open now in Annandale, with a special focus on Korean street food. Oiso opened Thursday at 7133-C Columbia Pike, with plans for a grand opening on May 22.

This restaurant is taking the place of former Gom Ba Woo, a different Korean restaurant that has closed.

This new eatery has a full menu of Korean bites. Diners can dig into several varieties of kimbap, tteok-bokki, donkatsu, and other flavorful dishes. There are even “K-tacos” in varieties like spicy pork and bulgogi with kimchi.

Whatever you choose, the restaurant prides itself on using fresh, never frozen ingredients. It’s a place where diners can find “food being cooked by a mom who wants to feed people,” a representative from the restaurant said over email.

The name, Oiso, means “welcome” in the dialect of southern Korea, the website says.

Oiso is in a soft opening phase now. It will throw a grand opening on May 22, from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. During the grand opening, there will be free tastings of Yoju cocktails (a mix of yogurt and soju) from 4 to 8 p.m., Annandale Today reported. Customers will also receive a free Korean ice cream bar with the purchase of a main dish from May 22 to Father’s Day.
