Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar has filed plans to replace Romano’s Macaroni Grill — the last DMV-area location of the chain — in Kingstowne Towne Center, according to the Washington Business Journal.
Golden Property Development, LLC, an outside planning firm that works with Lazy Dog, filed plans with Fairfax County to raze the Romano’s Macaroni Grill and build a 7,790-square-foot space that would house Lazy Dog, a Rocky Mountain–inspired casual restaurant chain that is based in Huntington Beach, California.
There are currently two Lazy Dog locations in the NoVA area, in Fairfax and Chantilly. The restaurants serve American cuisine including burgers, sandwiches, salads, and grain bowls, with rotating seasonal menus. Also on the menu are take-home dinners frozen in retro-style trays.
The site in question is located at 5925 Kingstowne Towne Ctr. in Franconia. Romano’s Macaroni Grill is a casual pasta restaurant chain that has been present in the shopping center since 2003. Washington Business Journal reports that a Kingstowne Towne Center rent roll shows that Romano’s lease ended on July 31, though it is currently serving customers.
There are 32 Romano’s Macaroni Grills in the U.S. The Kingstowne restaurant is the only Virginia location, and there are no locations in Maryland or Washington, DC.
