5 Eateries to Try During Alexandria Restaurant Week

From Mesoamerican to Italian, you have no shortage of dining options and deals.

By Rachel Schlueter August 15, 2023 at 11:14 am

End your summer dining on a high note by celebrating Alexandria Restaurant Week. From August 18–27, nearly 70 restaurants across the city will offer prix fixe meals at $25, $35, or $45.

Participating restaurants range from fine dining to fast casual and offer a variety of cuisines. The options can be overwhelming, so here are five restaurants to check out first.

Royal Nepal

Check out this Nepalese restaurant for a $35 dinner that is sure to leave you stuffed. Start with a lassi or fresh juice and a small bite salad, either watermelon salad or the crunch salad. Choose an entrée, such as jhir salmon or spicy lamb curry, and finish the meal with rice pudding or sikarni, a Greek yogurt dessert. 3807 Mt. Vernon Ave., Alexandria

Sweet Fire Donna’s

Satisfy your summer barbecue craving with one of Sweet Fire Donna’s two-person $35 meals. Try the barbecue sampler, which comes with pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, ribs, two sides, cornbread and dessert. Or, go for the SFD lunch box, which includes two smoked sandwiches, four sides, and two desserts. 510 John Carlyle St., Alexandria

Taqueria Picoso

This Mexican street food spot is serving a hefty $25 dinner for one. Choose from the housemade torta de carnitas or shrimp tostadas. Each meal comes with chips, guacamole, rice, and beans. 1472 N. Beauregard St., Alexandria

The Study

Named one of our top 10 restaurants in 2022, The Study is a must-try Mesoamerican spot. Stop in for a $45 dinner and enjoy entrées that include Caribbean curry–style shrimp or octopus chicharrón. Make sure to end with an order of arroz con leche or slice of tres leches. 116 S. Alfred St., Alexandria

Thompson Italian

Enjoy an Italian feast in the heart of Old Town. For $45 per person, choose a starter and entrée, either eggplant rotolo lasagna or fusilli with beef Bolognese. For dessert, try the chocolate budino or fruti di bosco sundae. 1024 King St., Alexandria
