Got Doughnuts? Astro Beer Hall will open in The Village at Shirlington next summer

The founders of Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken and restaurant development group Tin Shop are collaborating on an all-day coffee shop and beer bar.

“Doughnuts, fried chicken, and beer, oh my!” The owners of Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken, Elliot Spaisman and Jeff Halpern, have teamed up with Geoff Dawson and Peter Bayne of bar-and-restaurant development group Tin Shop to bring the best of the eatery, which has a location in Falls Church, to The Village at Shirlington. Late next summer, Astro Beer Hall will open its second location, following the success of its first in DC, which opened in 2019.

A representative tells us that the new location’s menu will likely feature crossover from the original. So what can you expect? Besides the brand’s famous fried chicken and doughnuts (which are fried to order at the restaurant), there’s pub food like fried pickles, pimento cheese, and smashburgers. The photo above portrays the grilled cheese and bacon sandwich, which combines cheddar and bacon on a savory doughnut bun.

Beer is in the name for a reason. The two-story beer hall will have 20 tap lines featuring a mix of local and carefully curated regional brews. The 14,000-square-foot space will have an indoor-outdoor feel thanks to three garage doors that open to an 80-seat patio. Inside, two game rooms will include amusements such as pinball, pool tables, and old-school arcade cabinets like Ms. Pacman and Asteroids.

Not a beer person? Perhaps you prefer coffee. The all-day, full-service coffee program will be based around La Colombe beans. It will also serve Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken’s signature doughnuts and breakfast sandwiches.

Look for more info in this space as we get closer to summer.
