Mochi Doughnuts and Korean Corn Dogs Are Coming to Leesburg, Annandale, and Centreville

Locations of the Mochinut chain are slated to open at Village at Leesburg, as well other locations across our region.

Everyone who tries mochi doughnuts agrees that they are habit-forming. Perhaps even more so than Western wheat-based versions. Korean corn dogs? Same story. Perhaps that’s why a store that offers both is about to take over NoVA. Village at Leesburg just announced that it has inked a deal with international chain Mochinut to open a location serving Loudoun County its first taste of the trendy Asian-inspired foods. According to Mochinut’s website, locations in Centreville (at 5900 Centreville Crest Lane) and Annandale (at 4367 John Marr Drive) are also coming soon.

What can you expect? Chewy, airy doughnuts in a range of 25 flavors. The glazes include Asian classics like ube, taro, yuzu, matcha, and black sesame, but also banana milk, Melona (as in the Korean honeydew-flavored ice cream bars), red velvet, and pistachio.

The savory options are centered around either hot dogs, mozzarella sticks, or both, as is expected from Korean corn-dog purveyors. Coatings include tiny potato cubes, ramen, and hot Cheetos, all fried to a compelling crispness. Customers can sweeten the deal with bubble tea. The chain, which has stores in South Korea and Thailand as well as the U.S., just opened its 35th location, in Sherman Oaks, California. More than 90 additional links are currently scheduled to open in the United States.
