A new Shake Shack is in the works for Old Town Alexandria, and the fast-food chain is asking the Board of Architectural Review to approve its vision.
The chain filed paperwork last December to enter the space at 621 King St., formerly a Burke and Herbert Bank. In its application to the BAR, the company included a new rendering of the storefront and requested approval for new signage, ALXNow reported.
The application included requests for a mounted Shake Shack sign, plus other branded signage and window vinyls. The BAR will review the application on July 2.
The new restaurant is aiming for a 2025 opening and will have an interior space of about 6,100 square feet. It will be the first Shake Shack in Alexandria.
This will be the 12th Shake Shack in Virginia, joining locations in Mosaic, Tysons, and Pentagon City, among others. The chain is known for burgers, chicken, and, of course, milkshakes.
