On the Border Closes Its Last Fairfax County Location

The chain of Mexican restaurants now has only one location left in Virginia.

After nearly 30 years in Reston, On the Border Mexican Grill and Cantina has closed its doors for good.

The Texas-based Mexican restaurant reportedly closed late last week, according to FFX Now. The eatery placed two signs on the door stating the restaurant was permanently closed.

One of the signs read, “With a heavy heart, we announce that this location is now permanently closed. We are incredibly grateful for your support and loyalty over the years — it has been an honor to serve you. Thank you for being a part of our journey. We hope to serve you again soon!” The restaurant has yet to post anything on its social media accounts.

On the Border has been located at The Spectrum at Reston Town Center – 11880 Spectrum Center, Reston – since it first opened in 1997. The restaurant is part of an international chain that first opened in Dallas in 1982.

The closing of the Reston location leaves only one On the Border restaurant left in Virginia. Fans of the chain can still visit the Woodbridge location at 2651 Prince William Pkwy.
