Here’s Where to Eat in NoVA During DMV Latin Restaurant Weeks

Latin American restaurants around the region will offer specials from May 3 to 17.

By Maggie Roth April 30, 2024 at 8:03 am

It’s never a bad time to grab a bite of crispy Peruvian chicken or flavorful Spanish tapas, but a two-week culinary initiative will sweeten the deal even further. During DMV Latin Restaurant Weeks, set for May 3 to 17, nearly 40 Latin American restaurants in the region will offer specials, giving diners a chance to sample a diverse selection of Latin cuisines.

This is all part of a national initiative that will bring Latin Restaurant Weeks to metropolitan areas around the country throughout the year (New York’s will run from June 7 to 21.) It started in 2019, when founders Karinn Chavarria and Warren Luckett set out to “help lend a voice” to the Hispanic restaurant community.

Here are some of the NoVA restaurants where you can find deals.

Abi Azteca Grill & Bar

This Mexican Salvadoran spot will offer a dinner deal for an appetizer, entrée, and dessert for $32. Diners can choose from the Fajita Abi, which is loaded up with beef, chicken, and shrimp, or the Mar Y Tierra, which comes with New York strip steak, shrimp, and scallops, for an entrée and finish it off with a flan or tres leches for something sweet. 3005 Columbia Pk., Arlington

El Pollo Rico

Get a satisfying lunch or dinner of Peruvian chicken for two people for $25 at El Pollo Rico. The special includes a half chicken — your choice of white or dark meat, or a mix of both — plus two sides, two bottled drinks, and two desserts. Multiple locations

Inca Social

Try traditional and modern Peruvian cuisine at this restaurant, with locations in Vienna and Arlington. It will offer a $40 dinner menu during the event, with a choice of an appetizer, a dessert, and entrées like ají  de gallina, a Peruvian chicken stew. 2670 Avenir Pl., Vienna; 1776 Wilson Blvd., Arlington

The truck is open from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays only, or until it’s sold out. 1325 Old Bridge Rd., Woodbridge

Los Chamacos

There are several options for specials at this Mexican restaurant. The deals include a fajita for two with a free horchata for $33, chicken or steak nachos for $12, and a free tres leches with an order of a molcajete for $55. 922 S. Walter Reed Dr., Arlington
