Bakeshop
Bakeshop opened its doors in Arlington during the 2010 snowstorm that ravaged the area. Now, it has expanded to Falls Church and Georgetown. Buzz Bakeshop
Old Town’s Buzz Bakeshop is the place to go for custom cakes from pastry pros. Their versions range in size from six to 12 inches and are offered in flavors ranging from vanilla and chocolate to red velvet and carrot. Victoria’s Cakery
Victoria’s Cakery says its homemade cakes and cupcakes “might remind you of your grandma’s baking.” Their cakes have fun names like “Heaven,” a white chocolate cake with raspberry filling and white chocolate cream cheese icing, and “Reverse Huggs,” two layers of dark chocolate cake, one of white cake, filled with chocolate icing and frosted with buttercream. 10430 Main St., Fairfax
Sussy’s Cakes
Sussy’s Cakes are beautiful, with examples on their website including a Peter Rabbit-themed birthday cake and a bright fuchsia cake dotted with macarons. Susana Ferrer, creator of Sussy’s Cakes, was raised in a Peruvian family dedicated to culinary art. Ferrer does not have a storefront and works out of her home. Contact through her website. Fairfax
Chantel’s Bakery
If you’re planning a birthday party for someone with a food allergy (or perhaps have one yourself), Chantel’s is a great option.
