7 Locally Brewed Pumpkin Spice Beers That Are Actually Pretty Tasty

NoVA brewers are putting real pumpkin in everything from bocks to marzens to saisons.

By Meredith Lindemon October 22, 2021 at 12:40 pm

If you find the flavor of pumpkin spice intoxicating, then you’re in luck. Pumpkin-flavored beers are here, just in time for Halloween partying. From ales to lagers and bocks, here are our favorites from local breweries throughout NoVA.

2 Silos Brewing Co.

The Pumpkin Ale by 2 Silos has won the Gold and Silver medals for best pumpkin beer at the  U.S. Beer Open in 2021 and 2020. This limited-edition brew is infused with spices and made with raw pumpkin. 9925 Discovery Blvd., Manassas

Crooked Run Fermentation

With two locations in Sterling and Leesburg, Crooked Run Fermentation offers their Marzen-style Oktoberfest lager made with pumpkin spice on their seasonal draft list. Named after one of the owners, the Jake O’Lantern is a lager with a 4.8 percent ABV. 22455 Davis Dr., Ste. 120, Sterling

Old 690 Brewing Co.

Old 690 Brewing Company’s Wicked Old Lady Pumpkin Ale is an amber ale made with caramel 120, cinnamon, ginger, all-spice, nutmeg, and clove. There’s 60 pounds of pumpkin meat added to the mash, and each pint has a 5.4 percent ABV. It comes served in a pint with a cinnamon-sugar rim. 15690 Ashbury Church Rd., Purcellville

Old Bust Head

The Pumpkin Pie Bock is malt-y and hoppy with a 5.8 percent ABV. Made with pumpkin puree and brewed with cloves, cinnamon, and all-spice, it tastes like caramel pumpkin pie with a toasty, bready sweetness. 7134 Farm Station Rd., Vint Hill

Eavesdrop Brewery

This harvest-spice Pumpkin Mead from Baltimore’s Charm City Meadworks has a 6.9 percent ABV and is Eavesdrop’s seasonal guest beer on tap. 7223 Centreville Rd., Yorkshire

The Farm Brewery At Broad Run

The Pumkin Drublic is a pumpkin spice ale blended with pie spices. This creamy ale tastes like pumpkin pie in a glass. 16015 John Marshall Hwy., Broad Run

Chubby Squirrel Brewing

The Pumpkin Eater is an 8.7 percent ABV saison made with real pumpkin, vanilla, and pumpkin spice blend. This spicy brew can come topped with whipped cream and spice. 10382 Willard Way, Fairfax
