The Coffee Issue: Where to buy locally roasted beans

Coffee addicts have their pick of the crop when it comes to locally roasted beans in Fairfax, Arlington and beyond.

Here’s where you can grab coffee beans roasted right here in Northern Virginia:

Arkibuna: Ethiopian (Alexandria)

Cafe Kreyol: green and roasted, some estate and single-origin, Central and South America (Fairfax)

Catoctin Coffee Company: single-origin, mostly Central American, plus organic beans from Maui (Lovettsville)

Kodikas Coffee: only one medium roast blend available, developed by a wellness consultant to relieve stress (Arlington)

LoCo Beans: single-origin from a mix of regions, including Brazil and Hawaii (Leesburg)

Lone Oak Coffee Co.: single-origin and direct trade from a mix of regions, also sells cascara tea, made from the fruit and skins of coffee but brewed like tea (Winchester)

McCawley Coffee Roasters Company: Peruvian, the owners use beans from the Villa Rica and Chanchamayo regions, as well as from their own farm (Purcellville)

Monument Roasters: single-origin from a mix of regions, including Indonesia, plus organic (Manassas)

Ricks Roasters Coffee Company: mostly blends, including a dark roast blend aged in neighbor A. Smith Bowman’s bourbon barrels (Fredericksburg)

Weird Brothers Coffee: blends and single-origin from a mix of regions, including Papua New Guinea and Tanzania (Herndon)
