A New Cat Café Opens in McLean This Weekend

MeowTown Lounge is the latest cat café helping local rescue cats get adopted.

Feline lovers will soon have something new to purr about. A nonprofit cat café, MeowTown Lounge, is holding its grand opening in McLean on Saturday, February 28, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The café will be giving guided tours of the space, hosting meet-and-greets with the adoptable cats, and holding raffles with giveaways and prizes. MeowTown Lounge partners with local rescue organizations to help ease the cats’ transition from shelter to home life. It also provides a support system to individuals who face barriers in the workplace.

“Our vision is to create purposeful moments for both people and cats,” Whitney Albrittain, founder of MeowTown Lounge, said in a press release. “When you walk into MeowTown, you’re not just visiting a cat lounge. You’re supporting inclusive employment, rescue efforts, and a stronger local community hub.”

The lounge is currently home to 14 different cats. Since its soft opening back in January, MeowTown has helped place 10 cats in their forever homes.

MeowTown offers two different passes. A cat lounge visit is a 50-minute experience for $25. A four-hour pass, which is only available during weekdays, is $60. Discounted passes are also available for military, veterans, first responders, nurses, and teachers. The lounge does not permit children under the age of 4, and children 15 must be accompanied by a parent.

Ticket revenue goes toward veterinary care, adoption placement services, supplies, and job training and employment opportunities. The money also helps fund community programming and educational events, like the upcoming Vet Seminar and Cat Yoga session. One hundred percent of the adoption fees go to the partner cat rescue.

MeowTown Lounge is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. 1345 Chain Bridge Rd., McLean
