Looking for a furry friend? Shelters and rescues across NoVA have many companions yearning for families to shower them with love and affection.
Here are a few that currently need homes:
Austin, the big-hearted cat from Homeward Trails; Dash, the adventurous brown brindle from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria; Lenox, the sweet dog from Lost Dog & Cat Rescue; and Sarge, the gentle bluetick coonhound from Middleburg Humane Foundation.
Aside from these animals, Fairfax County Animal Shelter is facing a critical shortage of space and urgently requires assistance for the more than 100 dogs under its care. Visit these adoptable pets and see if you can find a new furry friend at either of the shelter locations: 4500 West Ox Rd.; 8875 Lorton Rd., Lorton.
Meet Austin
This energetic 3-year-old domestic shorthair from Homeward Trails needs an owner who can support his medical needs. He requires medication twice a day. This adorable feline seeks a quiet home with older children and possibly a gentle kitty companion. Going through surgery and maintaining a strict medical regimen have not trumped his loving demeanor and penchant for snuggles.
Meet Dash
Dash is a spirited 5-year-old brown brindle dog with a zest for outdoor activities. He’s at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. Weighing in at 45 pounds, Dash’s adventurous curiousity is matched by his intelligence. He’s mastered commands like sit, paw, and touch, and is clicked trained. A special sponsor has covered adoption fees. The adopter will receive a year’s supply of dog food and a $100 pet shopping spree.
Meet Lenox
Lenox has been patiently waiting for a new owner at the Lost Dog & Cat Rescue for more than 400 days. This 3-year-old, 62-pound terrier mix dog has a beautiful coat and an affectionate personality. She would thrive in the company of older children or as a companion to a confident male dog. Her love for nature trails makes her the ideal fit for an active family or individual.
Meet Sarge
This loyal bluetick coonhound from the Middleburg Humane Foundation has a calm demeanor and natural love for both people and dogs. At 5 years old and 87 pounds, Sarge needs a home with a fenced yard. He may start off shy, but he promises unwavering friendship once he’s comfortable.
