NoVA Cats of the Month: 7 Friendly Felines to Adopt

These furry felines would love to find their new forever homes in Northern Virginia.

By Kate Oczypok March 22, 2023 at 3:17 pm

It’s hard to say no to the precious and fluffy face of a cat. Here are three cats and two bonded pairs of felines that are up for adoption in Northern Virginia and will expect lots of playtime and cuddles.

Meet Ganymede and Callisto

This gentle pair of bonded brothers have been waiting close to six months for a new home. Ganymede and Callisto are West Virginia natives and came to Mount Purrnon after being abandoned. They are two years old and the perfect mix of playful and cuddly. The pair takes some time to warm up to new people, which is why they often get overlooked for adoption. Once they’re comfortable with you, they love being playful, particularly with wand toys and laser pointers. They are low-maintenance and are often found lounging by a window in a comfy bed. They’re good with other cats, but due to their shyness, it is recommended they head to a home with no young kids or dogs. Ganymede and Callisto are currently at Mount Purrnon Cat Café and Wine Bar.

Meet Tisha

Tisha is a shy lady at first, but just needs some time to come out of her shell. She loves gentle affection and purrs appreciatively once she gets pets, chin scratches, or brushes. She gets along well with other cats and could do well solo or with a friendly cat that matches her energy level. Tisha is available through Homeward Trails Animal Rescue and is currently waiting for her forever family at Crumbs & Whiskers, DC’s first and only cat café.

Meet Bentley

Bentley is a busy cat! He loves to check out what’s happening outside his window. He is also a fan of exploring cupboards and closets. He’s a cat that enjoys the simple things in life — kibble, fresh water, long naps, and the occasional zoomie or two. Bentley loves cardboard scratching pads, interactive toys, and in a canine-like turn of events — tennis balls! Bentley can be found at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington.

Meet Mario

Mario is a two-year-old boy that was found as a kitten behind a Dollar Store in South Carolina, but he wants you to know he is priceless. Mario spent his first two years of life at a rescue, where he learned to love pets and people. He is a big sweetheart that loves to play and would enjoy a home with another gentle cat brother or sister and a human with which to cuddle. Mario is currently at Mount Purrnon.

Meet Mr. Nutmeg and Cinnamon

Cinnamon and Mr. Nutmeg are a brother and sister duo that must be adopted as a pair and will not be considered separately. Cinnamon is a sweet, active girl who loves to run around and play with her brother. And Mr. Nutmeg loves to engage right back. The two are looking for a home where they can run and play and get lots of engagement. Cinnamon and Mr. Nutmeg are up for adoption through Homeward Trails.
