Alexandria ranks No. 2 in the nation when it comes to dog-friendly amenities, a recent Rent.com ranking.
The Northern Virginia city comes in behind Miami, which holds the No. 1 spot.
Rent.com used pet-friendly services and amenities sourced from FourSquare data to determine its rankings. Services included pet-sitting and boarding facilities, grooming professionals, and veterinarians. Dog parks, pet supply stores, and animals were counted. Rent.com then calculated the scores by per capita and per square mile. It released the results in early February.
While Alexandria turned out to be the smallest cities on the top 10 list, it ranked No. 6 for having 78 boarding facilities and seventh for number of dog parks.
Alexandria came in 10th for grooming and pet supply stores, Rent.com said.
