Opening in early September, The St. James is the area’s newest premier sporting complex, measuring a whopping 450,000 square feet.
Complete with a sporting complex, which allows for programming for nearly 30 different sports, The St. James also will feature a spa and rejuvenation center, full-service restaurant, water park and a comprehensive health care center. But for local families, The St. James will offer youth programming in a variety of sports, such as baseball, softball, field hockey, football, lacrosse, soccer, basketball, volleyball, swimming, water polo, cheerleading, gymnastics, golf, squash, cycling, running, triathlon and ironman training, boxing, mixed martial arts and wrestling, for entry-level beginners all the way up to advanced programming for seasoned athletes. Most notably, The St. James will offer two NHL regulation sized ice rinks offering programs in hockey and figure skating.
Programming varies from private coaching sessions and developmental programs to camps, clinics and tournaments that allow for participants to showcase their skills and abilities.
Sporting directors at The St. James will consist of professional athletes ranging from World Cup soccer participants, Olympians and NCAA tournament players. For example, Bruce Murray, former U.S. national men’s soccer team member, will oversee player development and parent engagement at the Center of Soccer Excellence.
“Our directors, sports directors, coaches and trainers, are not only going be delivering high-level content in their particular sport but are also going to be doing personalized work in a way that epitomizes customer service at the highest end,” says Ken Tyler, director of athletics.
Class content ranges from basic skill development to learning how to implement certain tactics and plays to distinct scenarios. Other programming options include team training as well as exhibitions that further facilitate play, skill development and teamwork competencies. Additionally, programming includes strength and conditioning training through the health care center that allows each program to focus on all aspects of a player’s game.
Classes and programming are offered on an a la carte basis, with some being additional costs on top of membership fees. Although, members are given discounts on all additional fees.
Membership options are divided between yearly or monthly options. For adults, monthly fees are $169, with the option to add children for additional costs.
