By Michele Kettner September 10, 2021 at 4:06 pm

If you’re looking to turn off the talk radio on your way to work or skip the tunes during your workout, it’s the perfect time to try out a new podcast. Whether you are interested in nature, pop culture, or hilarious debates, tune into these local NoVA podcasters.

Meanwhile at the Podcast

Fandoms unite for weekly discussions about your favorite shows, movies, comics, and much more. From the latest on The Suicide Squad release to interviews with comic writers, podcasters George, Kristin, and Rodney dish on everything you need to know in the world of pop culture.

Seizing Freedom

The path to freedom comes in all shapes and sizes. After looking into how African Americans in history navigated the Emancipation Proclamation, Alexandria native Ronald Young Jr. is now taking on the story behind Britney Spears’s conservatorship.

The FRDi Show

Based out of Culpeper, hosts Nic and Cakes discuss all the questions that you probably debate with your friends. Have you ever wondered, What were the best ’90s cartoons? Or, Which of the five senses would you give up? Well, these two will make you laugh out loud as they come to the answer.

We Should Talk About That

If you are looking to talk about the topics that make everyone uncomfortable, this is the podcast for you. Hosts Jessica Buchanan and Jessica Kidwell unpack a variety of issues, from PTSD and grief to body image and middle age. Kicking off their third season in August, many of the upcoming topics of the Alexandria podcast will connect to the theme of vulnerability.

Virginia Outdoor Adventures

Virginia is full of stunning sites and trails that would make all outdoor lovers and adventurers swoon. Fairfax native Jessica Bowser is sharing recommendations, tips, and stories from outdoor experts, leaders, and influencers across the state. Make sure you catch up on season one soon, because Bowser has announced season two is coming soon.

Drama Queens

While this podcast isn’t based in NoVA, it does include Sterling Park native Hilarie Burton. If One Tree Hill was your favorite show growing up (and maybe still is), join the girls of Tree Hill High as they rewatch the series and spill on all the details and behind-the-scenes moments you probably missed.
