Earlier this year, Lakeshore Learning, a retailer of educational materials, launched the Schoolgirl Style Make Over My Classroom Content, and received entries from 2,000 teachers across the country—and a local Falls Church teacher came out on top.
Katherine Bryant, a first-grade teacher at Westlawn Elementary School, is the winner, and recently had her classroom completely redesigned for the upcoming school year. Teachers who entered the contest had to submit essays that described why they needed a decor makeover and how they create inspiring learning environment for students, as well as a “before” classroom photo.
The prize package, valued at $5,000, included decor from Schoolgirl Style collections, select teaching supplies, furniture pieces and decorative accents. The classroom’s interior was also painted new blue shade. See the before and after photos, below.
