The 68th edition of the Arlington-based Gargoyle literary magazine features a new collection of short non-fiction and fiction stories, poetry, art work and even a short screenplay from more than 140 writers across the country. Highlights from this latest assembly of writers include poems from Stephen Kessler (“Garage Elegies 22” and “Garage Elegies 8”) and David Alpaugh (“Secret/Life”); the humorous “The Wishful Entrepreneur” by Irene Fick and the heartbreaking “Bubbles” by Chelsea Morningstar; as well as Linda Blaskey’s “Breathe.”

As we are in the throes of another election cycle, Aimee Agresti’s new book paints a picture of the impact grueling campaigns can have on all those involved. Telling the story of a group of “campaign widows,” the significant others of those at the forefront of the campaigns, and how they come to rely on each other as they navigate and dominate Washington, D.C., the book spotlights the political atmosphere that engulfs the capital in an election year.
