Homeplace
By John Lingan
Houghton Mifflin Harcourt
A trip to visit the home of Patsy Cline started John Lingan on his journey for Homeplace. Questions led him to Jim McCoy, owner of Troubadour Lounge & Park, what Lingan calls “the only twang-and-sawdust roadhouse left in the Virginias”, and a man who embodies what the Shenadoah music scene gave to this nation. Lingan also uses the area to spotlight the struggles of a small town’s economic future and keeping an identity. (July 2018)
