Start making your signs and banners to congratulate Olympic gold medalist Torri Huske of Arlington on Sunday.

Arlington County plans to honor the gold and silver medalist with a big welcome at the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center.

The event will be from 3 to 5:30 p.m. and people can arrive starting at 2:30 p.m.

The 21-year-old, two-time Olympic swimmer from Arlington played a starring role in the Paris Olympics this summer. Huske brought home three gold medals from Paris in the women’s 100-meter butterfly, the 4×100-meter medley relay, and the mixed 4×100-meter medley relay. She also won two silvers in the 100-meter freestyle and the 4×100-meter freestyle.

At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Huske won the silver medal in the 4×100-meter medley relay.

Sunday’s event will include brief remarks from Arlington County Board Chair Libby Garvey, Huske, and Huske’s former coach at the Arlington Aquatic Club Evan Stiles.

If you bring a nonperishable item or canned food donation and you are 18 or younger, you can get a chance to have your photo taken with Huske or to get an autograph.

Food will support one of Huske’s favorite causes, the Arlington Food Assistance Center. Of course, everyone is asked to bring a donation.

Be forewarned: There will not be public parking available at the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center at 333 Long Bridge Dr. Arlington County suggests you carpool. Free parking will be at Long Bridge Park (475 Long Bridge Dr.). which is 9-minute walk, or in the garages in Crystal City. You can bike or take Metro to Crystal City, but you will have to walk 23 minutes from there.
